Well, as soon as I saw this image by Elisabeth Bell, I knew I HAD to have it! Through my excitement of seeing the image, I just jumped right over to the shop and bought it. Then, going back to the Digi Bell's Challenge Blog, there is a challenge going on currently where the prize is this image - pop over and join in the fun! I chose Bo Bunny "Vicky" designer paper and love the colors and how they look with the image. The butterflies are Martha Stewart, embellished with Ranger Liquid Pearls "white opal" and run through the cuttlebug with swiss dots. The flowers are Hero Arts and the buttons I've had for years and years and are Bazzill. I've followed Domi's sketch again (love that sketch!) at Simon Says Stamp. Used my spellbinder's Lacey die and Sizzix circle die as a matt which I also ran through the cuttlebug to emboss. The corner flourish is Memory Box, Madera; and supplies from the LCS for the stickpin and ribbon.

Another Gilly ("singing in the rain at Prairie Fairy) creation for me today - I just love her! Prairie Fairy Fridays challenge is "california dreamin'" and decided this card would fit since we are f-i-n-a-l-l-y getting rain and snow (which we have all been "dream'n" would happen, but ya know us Cali-folks, we'll be dream'n of the sunshine in a few days!) I pulled out an old stash of Doodlebug papers I've had for about five years and followed Domi's sketch over at Simon Says

, cuttlebug embossed my clouds, got into my bag of chiffon and tulle and sewed up some flowers, added some glossy accents and glitter to a couple of them, colored up my stickpins and image with my copics. My sweet friend KathyCan is so clever and said I should put part of the lyrics on the front and the other on the inside - she's so smart! Decided it was time to do up another easel card and dolled up the inside too. I picked up some great new dies from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps
and added some Glossy Accents to my clouds, rain and puddle, oh and Gilly's glasses, too. So much fun for a Saturday!

A little birdie told me...

So we had "stocking stuffers" at Christmastime at work and in my stocking was a new Logitec wireless mouse - EXACTLY what I needed (I had been telling my sweet hubby that I needed a new one badly)! Well on Friday one of my workmates (the little birdie) finally found out who gave us the "mouse" - it was Elaine!!! I love this sweet image by Heather Ellis and had to use it for Elaine's thank you card. I followed the sketch over at Sweet Sunday Sketch, used Prima "Pixie Glen" design paper and Memory Box Catalina die, of course a stickpin with pearls and ribbon.

Soak it Up!

Oh, my... how I love Gillian! I had forgotten about Prairie Fairy for a little bit, but snapped out of my fog and visited their store a couple of days ago and picked up three new Gilly's - makes me smile really *BIG*! I believe Gilly is "California Dreamin'" while having a nice hot soak! Since it is beautiful weather here, a bit chilly at night, but in the 60s during the day, bright and SUNNY! I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday
and had a blast with it! Tons of layers, edge inking (distressing), embossing, die cutting, flower making and using a fave embellie pink irridescent string of pearls - they are so shiny and bright, reminded me of the bubbles from the bath! I used My Mind's Eye "a happy heart" designer papers and even used the negative cut from the lacey spellbinder for the inside. Today, I wish I were Gilly!

First a confession (blush)! About six months ago I picked up a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch... I've used it several times since. I thought it rather odd that there were "hanging chads" (webs) on the punch image and an embossing-looking pad, but went along my merry way and snipped the web and had a sweet little butterfly. When making this card this weekend, I punched 4 butterflies in a row, set it aside, and went to work on other parts of the card. I glanced over at the butterflies in a row, and thought, wow that's kinda cool, its like 3-D - Oh, for goodness sake, "wendy", I said... that's one of the features of this great punch - oh, doy! LOL Okay, on to the card, the sweet images are from Stamp Fairy and i followed the sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday, used my bleached muslin, stamped with a "friend" stamp with one of my fave colors from Stampin' Up "more mustard" (i've had this ink for 10 years and it's still very juicy), tore my muslin, hand gathered it into a rosette shape, sewed on the pearl and my flowers were complete. I took a considerable amount of time hand sewing my matts, which was actually quite relaxing - but decided at the end, I really need to get my sewing machines tuned up - LOL. The paper is My Mind's Eye "everyday flair" and the ribbon is doodlebug. The rosebush wood is the Martha Steward medium branch punch (thank you, my sweet friend, KathyCan for sending me this wonderful prezzie!). Added some Ranger Liquid "bisque" pearls. I think Erica will enjoy this specially made for her birthday card!

This new to me Elisabeth Bell Image reminded me of a sweet BFF of mine. There was a fun sketch over at the Sweet 'n Sassy "the Sweet Stop" challenge, which I followed. Used Prima "printery" collection, fun ribbon, pearls and buttons. It was a bit tricky to get the sentiment to line up exactly right on the paper stamp image, but I think I did it! It's been a while since I had used lace, and this card just begged for some lace and stickpins. I found a nifty little gadget in the jewerly making department at the LCS called clear ear nuts, which just happen to fit perfectly on the end of the stickpin to prevent injury - they work GREAT!

This is another new image from Sassy Cheryl for me, and chosen especially for my long-time BFF (gradeschool), Donna. For this special card I followed the sketch over at Seems A Little Sketchy, used Basic Grey "Out of Print" designer papers, the beautiful felt flower from Ladybug Crafts Ink, cuttlebug embossing, Sizzix dies; ribbons and handmade stickpin colored to coordinate with the papers with copics, and a bit of liquid pearls on the cake. I also took the image into Photoshop and personalized the cake for "Donna" :)

A Gift for Starlet complete!

There is just the sweetest gal at work, Starlet, she is amazingly kind and just a darling. I photographed her and her husband right after their elopement, and fell in love. From that point forward we were fast friends. I wanted to make her a "special" thank you gift for her kindness, generosity and sweetness at Christmastime. I shopped at Sassy Cheryl's and found the perfect new image for my project. In Photoshop I inserted the sentiment into the heart for the thank you card of my project. I left the other 10 cards with empty hearts, leaving that up to Star - whether they become Valentine's, Thank You's, Birthday's or any occasion she wishes. I cuttlebug embossed, colored to my heart's content (literally - ran out of R20 on the last card), colored the stickpin, and cut with my sizzix dies. Then... I had to tackle the BOX - since these are A2 size (the envies are clear and a "roomy" A2 size), I had to do math (ugh!). I used my EK egdge punch and stamped with one of my favorite heart stamps, dressed it up with some of my stash ribbon, added the pearls, and finished up my Sweetheart set for sweet Starlet.

Platter of LOVE!

Today was a very productive day, which made me happy! I love "happy"! :) So as mentioned in a previous post Sassy Cheryl had a BIG sale on New Year's Day - this is one of my NEW images from my haul. I pulled out the chiffon, whipped up some yummy flowers, shopped my stash for the DP (sorry, i don't know the maker), didn't find a sketh that grabbed me, so just winged it. Somebody stop me - well, okay, DON'T - I can't stop cuttlebugging, especially my fave swiss dots, so I cuttlebug'd to my heart's content.

Well, Sketch N Stash had a new sketch up and the DT were spotlighting Heather Ellis images - so I HAD TO SHOP! Oh, my... have I been under a rock?!? I love her images... Made up a bunch of monochrome thank you cards for my workmates (lovingly called "stocking stuffers"). I rummaged through my ribbon stash (these ginghams must be at least 5 years old:), did some cuttlebugging, die cutting, simple stickpin making, followed the sketch, lightly colored Heather's images and here ya go - thank you cards.

So DH (dear husband) hadn't been to the mailbox in a while (over a week)... and it's his chore, since he insists upon carrying the key on his keychain (that's why it's his chore!) :) LOL... Today he walks in, arms loaded with mail, and what to my surprise and delight - a wonderful package from Ladybug Crafts Ink (Kerry) (Royal Mail!). Kerry had a "Birfday" candy post for her birthday and being the lucky one chosen randomly, I WON! Well, thought I would open "my" prezie from Kerry with YOU! :)

It's time to make Thank You cards! I love this image from Sugar Nellie of "Victoria" one of the adorables over at Funky Kits and followed the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I enjoyed the creation so much, I made a set of 6 (no sentiments)with a giftbox cardfolder plus 1 (pictured) to say thank you. I can't believe I didn't use any patterned paper - so not like me - but the image is so ding-dang-darling, I couldn't find any paper to compliment... have you ever had that problem?!? Anyway, this goes to one of my fave doctors I work with, Shay!

It's our sweet Daughter, Lelie's (affectionately named LaLa by her little brothers who couldn't pronounce Leslie, when they were little)birthday in a couple of weeks, and thought I'd better hop to it and get her card made. I love this image and the two sentiments from Mo Manning, and it's perfect for LaLa (she has the same hair!). I followed the sketch over at Simon Says and love the Prima Pixie Glen collevtion of patterned papers. I am entering this one over at Mo's challenge, as this week's theme is "fabric" and I'm on such a chiffon flower making kick, even the bow on this one is chiffon :)

Birthday wishes for my dear friend, Cindy! Stamp Fairy is having a 50% off sale - WOW!!! I love this image and sentiment from the store, and know Cindy will enjoy it. I followed the sketch at Sketch Saturday today and it worked perfectly for my project. Cut strips of chiffon fabric, gather stitched and sewed on a peach pearl for the flowers - love to work with the chiffon - it's so yummy!

Happy Birthday Mason!

Mason turned 3 on Wednesday! We all gathered for dinner in Old Sacramento, then some guests went home, but Nana & Papa were invited to the second part of the party - to ride the Polar Express train with Mason & Brooklyn - what fun! They changed into their jammies and at 8 it was ALL A-B-O-A-R-D the Polar Express to the North Pole! This image from The Stamping Boutique was a winner for Mason's card, along with the sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy.

I must thank The Stamping Boutique for this fun image and the great sketch over at Seems a little sketchy - just perfect for the Wilson Family's Christmas Card. I used Bo Bunny's Snowfall collection patterned paper, sizzix dies for the snowflakes, liquis pearls, sentiment from Paper Dreams of Mine , some of my fave ribbon, stamped little blue snowflakes inside and out, added glitter, cuttlebug embossed the stop for the easel and just had fun making this one for my sweet friends.

This one is for Jack and Carol Owens, two fabulous friends (celebrating 60 years married in the spring!)we met through my awesome sister, Sandy. Jack and Carol have stables in the sierra foothills, where my sis keeps her horses. Both of them are cutting champs (Carol continues to compete, and Jack is a judge). Carol is also an artist and bronze sculpturist-see her work here! I saw this image over at Sassy Cheryl's and it's perfect for Jack and Carol. Followed the sketch this morning at Sketch Saturday - love the sketch! I also added the fir trees (sculpted and layered in Debby4000-style) found at Stamp Fairy - Gerda is having a BIG 50% off sale - check it out! I rummaged through my stash and found the perfect Cosmo Cricket patterns for my project. The sentiment is from Paper Dreams of Mine that was a freebie. Did a bit of dry embossing with the cuttlebug and snowflake punching with Martha Stewart.

Happy Birthday Sean Toad!

Awww, it's our oldest son's 35th birthday - hard to believe! He likes to think of himself as a redneck (LOL) and did have a red-tick hound (Judge waiting at Rainbow bridge now for Sean some day), so with my winnings from the Digi Doodle Shop a couple of months ago I picked up these images, knowing they would be perfect for Sean (Toad-nickname from his father). The Bayou-looking house is Dustin Pike - thought it went perfect with the images from Digi Doodle Shop. Used my new sizzix label die, papers from Simple Stories-generations and made the sentiment up in photoshop. Using the special pad and tool, coved the images and popped them with 3-d tape. He's gonna get a big kick out of this one.

Letter to Santa

So on Monday at Henry J's 1st birthday party, I asked his 3 older brothers (Bryan-9, Cooper-7, Nolan-3) if they'd sent their letter to Santa yet... They shook their heads and said "NO, not yet, Nana"... I had a look of disbelief, and smiled and said they should put that on the top of their to-do "list"! I saw this darling image by Sassy Cheryl, and knew it was THE one for their Christmas Card. I did personalize it just for the "bickford boys" (return addy used to be from Tommy-hope Cheryl doesn't mind)! The cute mailbox was perfect, found at Dustin Pike's. I was inspired to do the card all in white except the image from the challenge over at Di's Digi Designs. I cuttlebug embossed to my heart's delight (three layers of snow swirls, hand cut to resemble drifts), punched snowflakes, diecut trees, glittered and colored - what a fun day!

Today is our 6th gkiddo's 1st Birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HENRY J! I picked up the free image from Bugaboo and followed the sketch at the new challenge blog Seems A Little Sketchy (awesome site-make sure you visit!)and had a great time shopping my stash and finding Nana's Kids from DCWV - worked perfectly! I popped the top of the cupcake and party hat, made the sentiment in photoshop, added some red stickles for the cherry on top and here is Henry J's birthday card! :)

Yup, lots-a pictures! I have two friends who celebrate Chanukah and wanted to make sure this year I sent them handmade holiday wishes. The sweet image is Mo Manning-Sarah at Hannukkah and my take on the sketch at Sketch Saturday. Used my Sizzix labels, Tim Holtz patterned paper, Memory Box dies, colored pearls and a stickpin with B24 copic, used liquid pearls, beads, a feather, some beautiful lace, some DMC floss from my stash, and even did the inside of the easel card, added a doily and what didn't show in the photos is the layer of Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter (love this stuff-thanks Dream Valley for challening me to use it on this card!) all over the lace/stop. I attempted to make the sentiment in the shape of a dreidel - I can see it, can you? Had a lot of fun making two similar cards for my friends for their holiday.

I'm just a wee bit hooked on vintage images it seems, today was no exception, and found this one at Digital Two for Tuesday. I worked really hard with my colorless blender and what I call the "pickup" technique seen in many copic tutorials. I love the "watercolor" look and feel. Really dug into my stash and found some Mustard Moon paper from 2004, PaperLoft from the same year, Making Memories metal vintage brads, velvet ribbon leftover from a class I taught 6-8 years ago. I did use something new - new sizzix embossing holly folder, in reverse. Followed the sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and it all came together quite easily.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Truss the turkey, bake the yams, gravy atop, stuffing on hand, a perfect meal, a perfect day, all done up in a perfect way! That's the sentiment I came up with for the inside of this project. It's flying from Sacramento to Denver in the wee hours this morning with our son and his wife, as they travel for the holiday to spend with her lovely family. I used the sketch over at Squigglefly and a wonderful image from The Graphics Fairy. Even snuck in a little bit of coloring (my favorite thing to do!) - who knew you could color your stickpin to match perfectly :)

This is a rarity for me - NO COLORING! I saw this free image from Graphics Fairy found through Free Digital Stamps (daily email) and just knew I HAD to make a card with it. Pulled out my stash of findings purchased over 10 years ago, made a stickpin, used a feather (new favorite embellie) and fabric flower, pearls and lace - all right up my ally and down my street! Followed the sketch at Creating Life's Pieces (CLP) and had the most wonderful time!

In the Meadow

The weekend was fabulous, but as always, too short! Skyped with KathyCan, figured out Skype issues with the help of Beth, and then "group" skyped with Kathy and Beth - WHAT FUN!! Just like getting together to papercraft at the B&B, with the exception of "borrowing sugar" and sharing meals :) I used layers in photoshop and had a lot of fun puting this card together. I love this Karen Middleton image I got at Cuddly Buddly and the free background image I picked up through Free Digital Stamps, used my Tim Holtz movers and shapers mini pine tree, awesome papers from Memory Box "yuletide" and the perfect smooth bazzill and ribbon leftover from a class I taught a few years ago. I'm sure I will overuse the new MS icicle punch, cuz I love it!

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving to all my US family/friends, and a perfect "spirit of Christmas week" to all!

A Merry Little Christmas

So through the wonderful site (I get a daily email) Free Digital Stamps I picked up the free image from Addicted to Stamps by Sherri Baldy. I watched all of Suzanne Dean's You Tube tutorials(5) on distress ink coloring with copics, and tried my hand at this technique (obviously, there is quite a learning curve). Need more practice, but I sure enjoyed myself. Picked up a few new goodies at the LSS and LCS, along with a fabulous collection of paper from Tim Holtz. I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday and just had the best time doing a Christmas card in monochrome peachy-pinks.

Musn't be Late!

Starting from the beginning... Thursday night I popped over to Lee's blog "Crafty Loops" for a visit. She had posted a fabulous tutorial on flower making with petals (that was the beginning). I shopped to my heart's content for all the supplies I would need (and then some...), came home all excited to follow Lee's wonderful instructions and went in search for one of my three hot glue guns (did I ever mention I have five children, all grown, but still my children...)and couldn't locate even one! Thoroughly distraut and depressed, curled up on the couch, ate cake and watched Alice in Wonderland. After my "pity party for one", with renewed determination, I returned to my workspace and had the Ah-ha moment - ended up using my tape gun, which worked perfectly! I knew I wanted to make an "alice" card for a sweet friend's birthday this month, so got to work finding the image, using the spotlight technique (my favorite technique when scrapbooking, but first time using it on a card and I love it!) with my "hoarded" American Craft glitter paper, made my first stick pin with a corsage pin and beads and findings from my shopping spree. Used the sketch over at Digi Doodle and created my easel birthday "Alice in Wonderland" card for Allison - end of story! (my favorite card to date!) :)

In Memoriam

In memory of my dear sweet friend, KathyCan's wonderful Mother, Verlene. After having the great fortune of meeting my dear friend ten plus years ago online and then in person shortly thereafter, we have spent many days and nights scrapbooking together - every Friday when she lived in California, and now a couple times a week through Skype - she is my very cherished friend. One day, about ten years or so ago, I received a call from Kathy's Mother, Verlene - inquiring what scrapbooking supplies she should purchase for her daughter's upcoming birthday... I fell in love... and had the great pleasure of spending time with this wonderful woman over the years, she still called nearly every year for birthday gift suggestions for Kathy. Verlene took a spill at home a few years ago and wasn't able to return to her home, but improved enough to live in a beautiful assisted living facility in the Bay Area. About 18 months ago, Kathy asked her mother to come to Arizona to live with her and her husband. Verlene was tentative about the move and being a burden on her wonderful daughter, but decided to make the move. What a wonderful heartfelt, selfless gift to give her mother - to become her fulltime caregiver with the wonderful aid of Hospice. Kathy held her mother's hand with complete devotion as her mother passed away last week, embraced and surrounded with the love of her family. My heart breaks for my dear friend and with a heavy heart, full of love I made her this card. I hesitated to post the card, but today was Verlene's internment, and felt the need to share with you a little about Verlene and the sweet devotion of her daughter, my friend, KathyCan.

Think of your mother, hold her lovingly in your heart Always, whether she is still with you or has passed away.

I received a nice compliment from the DT over at If the Shoe Fits...Scrap it!, which prompted a trip over to their blog. This week's challenge is KISS and a SOG = keep it simple sweetie and season of giving! They are involved in an awesome charity, and cards for hospitalized children. Visit their blog, it's wonderful what they are doing. I followed the sketch at Graphicat Sketches, and kept it as simple as I could. The sweet image is Cecile all wrapped up from Digi Doodle, papers from Basic Gray, a Tim Holtz shaper and a jingle bell from my LSS. Inside, is a little book of 'twas the night before Christmas... I hope the wee one who receives this card will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Had a yummy time creating this card, especially since I got to go shopping at StampFairy with winnings from Southern Girls this week. George and his cup of cocoa along with the "hushmellows" (the way darling gkiddo, Cooper used to say it). I followed the sketch at StampFairy's challenge, cut and embossed with the cuttlebug, sprinkled the snow with glitter, used CK Becky's hand for the sentiment, shaped, layered and popped my images, positioned the cup under the flourish on the Bo Bunny DP to emulate steam...made myself a nice cup of cocoa and thoroughly enjoyed myself :), albeit battling the flu for the last three days.

Happy Holidays Snowoman

I thought this darling "snowoman" from Sassy Cheryl was perfect for the sketch over at Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, made into a modified gatefold. I shopped my Basic Gray stash, used my new Bo Bunny Snowfall collection, my "hoarded" baker's twine and the sweet little snowfake charm from my LSS, and used the CK "jot" font for the sentiment. This card makes me HAPPY!

I must thank Sassy Cheryl very much for hosting this weekly challenge, and as luck would have it with the random picker, I won last week :) And I loved the comment left about the MCR (mobile craft room) - my husband laughed, but agreed wholeheartedly :0) This week I'm working on Christmas ('tis the season) projects and one for Cheryl's challenge this week (go figure)... What I really wanted to display is the cute little salt & pepper socials that my wonderful husband found at a garage sale for me... 10 of them for a buck :), thoughtfully purchased for all my glitter - smart man!

Wishes do come True!

Oh, Mo, has done it again...:) Fell in love with this "make a wish" image and thought it would be perfect for a special friend's birthday celebration. Followed the sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and challenged myself up with 4 Crafty Chicks' paper piercing challenge - fun, but my fingers hurt from holding that push pin. I found the red buttons with the flowers embedded in them at the LSS, had the pins to make my very own embellies...oh, and of course, it's a "fancy fold" easel card. All in all, I think it came together nicely.

Sassy Cheryl has a "show me" day, and since I had just printed out, colored some up and made some cards with Cheryl's wonderful artwork, I thought I'd join in the fun this week :) My workspace is small, but it keeps me in the house and off the streets - LOL - most of the time, as I love being home... Not sure how it's all going to work when we ritire in 4-1/2 short months and hit the road to full-time RVing - VERY exciting adventure, that's for sure :) That is the "real" reason I started digital scrapbooking and digi stamps cardmaking, as there will be limited space :)

'twas the night before Christmas

The design team over at Digital Delights chose me to be their guest this week at the storefront - Thank you, Ladies!!! I chose Oralie the sleepy mouse for my project - he is just so ding-dang-darling, isn't he?!? I saw there was a challenge over at Sweet 'n Sassy "Let's get in shape", so cut the card into a scallop with the cuttlebug and my sizzix die (first time with this technique, and I love it), another scallop and then a circle - fun! Colored up Oralie with my copics, cut him out and used my Snowmarker Marvy for his pom. I watched a tutorial on You Tube and learned how to make spiral text - I love to learn new things, and here ya go - "'twas the night before Christmas" all wrapped up and ready to send to someone special.

It's time to get in the spirit, friends - enjoy your week!

So during the week, Cheryl sent an email with this image on it - right away (even before reading the text) I thought "that's Polly Pumpkin", then reading the text Cheryl wanted help naming her. I popped right over to the blog and left my little note - what I didn't realize was that a few comments ahead of mine, Theresa had also seen "polly" in this image - great minds think alike! I purchased her at Sassy Cheryl's, colored her up with copics, layered in her face in Debby4000 style, used my lacey nestie and fiskars flower punch, and here she is - POLLY PUMPKIN! For this card, I followed the sketch at Pink Gem/A gem of a Challenge. Will send this one off to a "bestie" in Texas, who I miss very much - Polly will give her a giggle, for sure :)

I had wanted this Karen Middleton image for a long time and with my Cuddly Buddly prize, I finally got it - love it!. So much fun coloring this little pixie in monocrome blue copics. I took the plunge and used my glue and glitter, too. I got lost in sketchland (as there was one posted on Feline, but it said you had to get permission if you were going to use it in a challenge - odd?? since I found it on a "challenge blog"...) Anyway, I find myself very much reliant on the sketches nowadays - how bout you? Enjoyed my cuttlebug a bit with nesties and sizzix dies, and my favorite swiss dot embossing folder.

Joy to the World

What a Lovely weekend, burning the cinnamon candle, listening to holiday music! So I was just "browsing" (window shopping) the other night and stopped by Mo's and this new set called my name!(teehee) Today was the day to color and create... Really had to hunt for the "just right" sketch, which I was delighted to find over at Pink{INK}Sketch and it worked perfectly for a gatefold. Found some old Karen Foster DP, rhinestones and the perfect shades of bazzil to play with. The challenge over at Mo's challenge is inspired by a song, hence the name of the card - love the song Joy To The World... and here ya go - I had so much fun - you should'a seen my workspace, musta used over 30 copics :)P.S. my fave part of the card, is the wick added with my zig to the lamp candle, along with the rhinestone for the flame :) :)

So I picked up this image at Make It Crafty along with the background from Stampers Best, and went to work on the oldest grandson's halloween card and treat box. I dug around and found an old bat finding I got off of e-bay like 10 years ago - he will get such a kick out of this. I used the cuttlebug and the folder that resembles wood, along with a Tim Holtz fence die and the BG paper "eerie" I got a couple of years ago and it's a done deal :)

Happy Saturday! Fortunately it was a short work week, since I took Monday off, and I'm officially on the countdown to retirement... six months - YAY! I visited Mo's shop and simply fell in love with this new image. Elaine is the GDT for October and she came up with this week's theme of "patchwork". What a fun challenge - I always make "tied" quilts, so followed that theme here. Rumaged through my stash and found the vellum, softening the quilt a bit behind my copic colored image. I had a bunch of snowflakes cut also, but I HAD to just stop, as it was getting VERY busy :)

WOW - This was so much fun to make... I'd seen the "twist" and last night finally took the plunge on this variation of the easel card. This card is very "beefy", as I decorated not only the front and inside, but also the back. Followed the sketch over at Creative Craft Challenges, chose one of my new Make it Crafty images and even used my new EK edge punch. The inside triangle is actually a pocket for the yearly holiday letter - to say it again... SO MUCH FUN!

I'd Pick YOU!

A little A2 card for a longtime friend. Picked up the Martha butterfly punch and had to play. This was outside my "usual" box, as there is no coloring and a simple sentiment. There are lots of layers, embossing, punching, die cutting, etc. Even decorated the inside - a rarity... it was an awesome day skype scrappin' with my sweet friend, Kathy.

Someone Fairy Special

What a lovely Sunday! Family and friends came over for a day in the sun and pool - most took a nap after playing, and I had time to color :) Found this sweet free digi at Kelley Kid's and had to play. Found if I used the flick and feather method with my copics, I would achieve my highlights goal. Used Nana's kids from my stash and followed the sketch from Crafting Life's Pieces, along with dies, doilies, punches and even a charm. It was a wonderful day!

I tried something new (for me) today, using the negative cuts from my sizzix to frame the darling Mo Manning image. My sweet sister, Sandy's (the most WONDERFUL, precious gift my parents ever gave me)birthday is a month away and purchased her first horse a little over a year ago. "Cloud" is a gorgeous medicine hat paint (nearly all white), hence my choice of copic colors. My dear friend, Kathy, told me about using a 3d glue dot and baker's twine - bit of a learning curve, but I love the results. It's been a fun day.

Fairy Special Birthday

My sweet "new" daughter-in-law's birthday is coming up, so chose this fun and sweet fairy image from Mo Manning, following this week's Sketch Saturday's pattern. I came across some of my beloved DaisyD's (so sad they are gone)and chose one pattern with a secret message to my DIL (she's quite the artist - can you find the message?). Colored my image with copics and spritzed it with some "sparkle". I even took a crack at making ribbon flowers (she loves carnations - I think these look rather carnationy, don't you?), which was great fun.

Yesterday I spent 12 hours with scrapfriends at Brandy's (ScrapLovely)monthly crop. I was inspired by Mo Manning's DP2 challenge DT, along with Simon Says multifold challenge. The image was fun to color and layer. I found some Gin-X patterned paper in my stash (or should I say "hoard" - LOL). I got to use my newly acquired EK "swiss cheese" corner punch - love it.

I was inspired today to create this card by Sketch Saturday-Jessica Fick. I found Nana's Kids stack in the "scrapshed" and think the papers really inspired me to go "girly". The image reminded me of my sweet dear friend Kathy. I have never done a bunting by hand-bit challenging for me. I also busted out my old Fiskers paper edgers and chose to "old school" it a bit (while listening to 70s hits music :), and even did some hand stitching. It was a fun day!

Had a cup of coffee, shopped at Mo's, colored, made iced coffee, shopped at my LSS, colored some more (which is now my favoritest thing to do), cut, more iced coffee, shaped my pieces Debby4000-style (I say this loosely, as I will never achieve her incredible work), used my silicone, did a bit of straight stitch embroidery (hand-to-ornaments), created the sentiment in photoshop, more iced coffee, fretted over the sketch at Mo's Challenge Blog, Skyped with Kathy, overcame my anxiety and finished my card ~ finally! Yesterday was my sweet little sister's 43rd birthday... Since I am the photography and lovingly referred to as the "family historian", I hold all of the photographs :) I went through the last 6 years of my digital world and chose 40 photos, all of which Sandy was in... it was hard to just choose 40. I created a simply elegant 8.5x11 album for her, and had a lot of fun walking down memory lane with the photos. She loved her gift!

Hmmmmm... what's a "Thursday"? It's not a TGIF, it's not "hump" day, not a manic Monday, not a two for Tuesday, and definitely not a weekend... So what is a Thursday? Thursday is my lazy day; Thursday is my formulate plans for the weekend day; Thursday is a take-a-nap day; some Thursdays are my Fridays; Thursday is Country Night at the local Powerhouse Pub; and Thursday is today! Things I've accomplished on this Thursday is a small list... load of towels, made lunch, revamped this blog, started a Flickr account, chatted with friends, finished a book with the dogs lounging at my feet, and drew up a couple of sketches to scrap... IT'S BEEN A LOVELY THURSDAY!!!

It's a card, it's a box, it's a drawer - Gale had the instructions for this at Cricut Club. Of course, I left the instructions in my bin at Green Tangerine's, so had to hunt it down on the internet, but I did find it! YEAH! I just grabbed some "ancient" Rusty Pickle paper that I have been "saving" - LOL. I really love how it turned out. I also used Bazzill "straw" - one of my new faves! Gearing up for Cricut Club

at Green Tangerines... I love the white-on-white, faux embossed look. This month we will be working with chalks and stamps, along with the Wild Card Cricut cartridge. The gals will be able to make the card with their choice of one of three colors. The swap this month is thank-you cards. I'm thinkin' about gearing up here in a minute to make 3 sets myself to swap with the gals...

and with some refining and practice, by george I think I got it! Here's a little card I made using scrapperlicious' extreme punching technique. I rather like how it turned out... but I'm not looking forward to cleaning up the mess -- geeeeesh, my scrap table is a HOT MESS! ;)
And... I must thank my sweet friend, Kinsey, for the idea of the circles - she did this similar technique on one of her layouts for Green Tangerines Kit Club, and I just fell in love with it - thank you, again, KinseyGirl!
I also chose to add my initials to the note card... I had been wanting to make myself a set of blank cards for a long time, and now I think I'll make this a set :)

That's what it's been... Many things have changed in the year of 2008, with 2009 a change of the numbers...

I was asked in November to join the teaching team at Green Tangerines... I've been having a BLAST. Everyone there is so nice and it feels like a big family. I'm mainly doing Cricut stuff, but chatting now about teaching photography and photoshop classes, which should be very fun, too!

Photography is going GREAT - just have a goal of two weddings a month and enough portrait sittings to fill in the rest. Over the past month, I've done quite a few seniors and have had a great time and gotten rave reviews from my clients. It's a nice feeling to be appreciated for your "art". I must find time this week to update my apertureartnorcal.com website to add all of my recent shoots.

Toosday Triv

Okay, the movie was really cheesy and campy, but being with Bob and friends made the late night/early morning totally a treat!

I've been a busy Mrs. B... doing a lot of photography - this one I did yesterday of the sisters, and we had so much fun. I've known the Bartley's since Sara was 2 - now 21! The new restaurant downtown Roseville was nice enough to allow us to take photos inside - love how they turned out! Today, I'm headed to the old field to take more senior portraits, and hopefully can get a hold of another youngin to squeeze him in before dark tonight. Then tomorrow I have 3-4 more guys to shoot - should be fun - they want "urbanisc" shots. Saturday two family sittings... I'm so glad I'm busy this week! Now, just two weddings a month is what I need!

After Midnight!

It's finally here... well, in a couple of hours, that is! TWILIGHT... Can't wait... 10 of us are meeting up at 10p tomorrow, starbuck's in hand! Planning a nap tomorrow, too :)

For the first time in 20 years, I am going to work for someone else - YUP... and doing something I totally LOVE, love, love - scrapbooking! Green Tangerines offered me a job on Saturday, and today I accepted. Beth brought up a lot of good points and enlightened me :) Thanks, Beth! I will head up one of their creative design teams, and I am a bit excited about the whole prospect. Kelly is very savy in the business world, having an MBA and all :) Of course, I will continue building my photography business, which I love, but need to get a bit of dollies rolling in - LOL.

Next week, I have portraits scheduled all week - mainly senior portraits, but also a couple of families and some children. Now, just to get a wedding or two a month - then I'd be set!

Catching up

What a fantastic day! The wedding was awesome, and it was so wonderful having our ENTIRE family there!

The drive down was fun, the stay at the OC fairgrounds was great and very comfortable. I am so glad we chose to take the trailer - it is truly our home away from home. The day at DL was very fun, and seeing the little people enjoy themselves was the highlight!

After we got home on Sunday, my sister and I celebrated her birthday by going to see Tina Turner - the show was over-the-top, and we are still talking about it. That woman, 69 years old, is awesome and looks fabulous! Her voice is still amazing, and she can really shake it up the tina turner way!

We are in the throws of Halloween preparation... The ship looks awesome and Bob is helping Paul get everything together for the "carnevil" across the street. We estimate about 300 kids showing up! He's added so much this year! We will also be showing Pirates of the Caribbean in the front yard! He has about 2 hours of piratey music on the ipod that is hooked up to the palm trees and the lights blink to the music. He also added this cool light that makes the ground look like water - he's soooooo smarty piratey! Arrrrrr, Matey!

Football is also going great - looks like we are headed to the playoffs, which is a first for our HS football! I am starting to get a little sad, knowing that this is my last season as the field photographer for the team... I am a senior! :)

So we won the vote and we will be highlighted starting today on KCRA3 Playbook! Gooooo Woodcreek. I have also tagged all the local radio stations that the kids listen to, to see if one would like to come out and join our school spirit, either tomorrow night or for homecoming. Tonight I'll help serve the JV/V supper, and then we'll all go out an enjoy the frosh game. I did get a new camera yesterday, the D90 and boy is it ever SPECIAL! Can't wait to use it tonight, and especially tomorrow night's V game in the dark! This camera is supposed to have no noise at 3200 and boy will that ever make a difference with quality!

Late nights

for over a month now, I've been burning the midnight oil... and it's caught up with me! I caught a summertime cold a week ago, and now it's moved down into my chest and I feel like CRAP! Tonight a friend told me to drink hot tea with sympathy... had never heard of it, but it is hot tea with Grand marnier in a brandy snifter - wow, not only do I feel better, I'm a little tipsy ;) So last nights games - well... the JV blew them out of the water, 62/18 woodcreek. Not such good news for the varsity, however... we lost 14/32 :( We were so hoping for a win. Collin had to sit this game out, but hopefully will get some playing time this coming Friday against Placer - we are home, so that will be waaaaay nice. I'm glad I'm only shooting the JV/Varsity games this week... shooting 3 games in 24 hours, really burned me out... especially with all the time involved, shooting, editing, downloading, making a movie, finding the right music. I can now say I am a "bad ass" at leveraging from google. I found a bunch of music from SpiralFrog (great site), but then found out all the music was "protected" and I couldn't use it anywhere but on my computer to listen to... well, going through the backdoor, I found AllMusicConverts and am happy to say that now I can access ALL of the music for my needs, even downloaded to my ipod. I also found that KNCI has streaming, so nice to sit and listen to the radio - too bad that the Wolf doesn't have the same, as they are my fave country station. I did contact the promotions department at the Wolf to see if they would come out to the Homecoming game on the 26th and broadcast live from our field. Last night at Casa, 107.9 the End was broadcasting from their field - kinda cool! I just figured, we have a good chance to get the Wolf, since we are the "Wolves!" :) Was supposed to go to the MinPin show tomorrow in the Bay Area, but just feeling so punk, I don't think I'll make it. Which is really too bad, considering I was supposed to talk with the minpin club's pres about co-owning a show bitch... maybe next time.

Football Friday

Wow... I can't believe how fast this week has gone! I really wanted to keep up daily with my blog, but... I've been super busy with the two websites - AANC and WHS. I do fully understand now why I've put so much time and effort into the HS football stuff - it has led me to this path of photography and knowing how to navigate and set up my own website. I watched all of the tutorials for my PS actions this week and learned SO MUCH! I know how to retouch any photograph - it's awesome! I will be so ready for Isaac's wedding :) Shot the frosh game last night and really had a wonderful time - they won, 28/20! Tonight is the JV/Varsity game, which I will also be shooting. Should have seen Collin this morning, all ready for Football Friday at school - all dressed up in black - way sharp dressed man! I edited the frosh photos and put them on snapfish in the wee hours - the frosh boys were so excited to see them already up this morning :) I also made a movie with "wipeout" as the music and added that to their page. Okay, back to it... more tomorrow! GO WOODCREEK!

TaDa Tuesday

It's much cooler.. by far. The Delta breeze is up to 15-20 mph. Had to lower all of the umbrellas in the backyard :) Somehow I've caught a cold - damn... but I won't dwell on that!

Yesterday the ad art session for de ja'vue Salon in Roseville was very successful - had a lot of fun in PS doing up her biz art, and my hair looks AWESOME. Cindy is such a wonderful colorartist! Here's a peek at her new ad art. I had Bob stop by a specialty store today to pick up this same mirror that Cindy has in her studio, for my photography studio - I just think the reflection photos are sooo cool off of this mirror.

Football is going great and the players are loving the website, and I'm having so much fun adding and playing with the site. This Friday we play Casa - GO WOLVES! Here's a line of merged photos of Collin from last Friday's scrimmage - so fun to see him back in the game, even though now he is on the injured list again after using his head to tackle someone in practice yesterday - ugh!

Today we have Miss B and Juno - nothing like having two babies in the house, even though one of them is only 2 lbs and wears a pink collar - LOL. I figured out in PS how to set up my web pages for ApertureArtNorCal, so will be starting to put that together - this is all so very exciting - my new venture!

This morning, I chatted with friends online, accepted a comment to my blog from Norri, edited Collin's FB photos for a new sig line at LM, showered, dressed, 2 cups o'jo, and now getting laptop and camera equip ready to go to a shoot for ad art and get my hair done in barter - can't wait! :)

It was so much fun last night... and the best part... Brian thoroughly enjoyed himself. Bob actually hooked up a cool lighted palm tree to the doorbell, and whenever it was rung, the palmtree would light up and play the awesome music playlist Bob made for the party - of course, all Hawaiian music. The menu was quite fun, also... terryaki meatball bobs, grilled spam w/pineapple, grilled pineapple infused pork loin - yum-o! Bob really cooked a lot, so today... we don't have to cook - YAY!

Today, we're just kickin' back... Collin and Ethan went 4-wheelin at 8 this morning, and they should be back in another hour or so. Col is really enjoying his new truck that Rob gave him for his birthday... it's a 77 ford. It was Rob's dad's truck, purchased new in 77, and then given to Rob as his first vehicle, and now staying in the family by passing it on to Collin. Collin and Bob have done some work on it, and it runs like a champ!

I did have big plans for today, wanting to take down my whole office, pull furniture and carpet out of Dev's old room and start getting ready to make my studio. But... dragin' butt just a bit, what with having 4 glasses of wine last night :) so think I'll just take care of those ambitions another day.

Gearing up for Friday Football

Seems like this is all I have been doing lately... WHS Football... I do love it, however, and have made some fabulous friends. Just kinda sorry that I didn't get more involved earlier in my kids' HS careers. Last night we went out for Joshie's 21st BD and had a lot of fun... of course I took some fun pix of his first "legal" drink ;) Col, Dev, and Danielle joined us also - nice to sit down to dinner with the kids in the middle of the week. I am trying to get my AANC website put together... which is exciting, to say the least! I've been reading the 3rd book in the "twilight" series, but having a hard time fitting in reading what with everything else that I'm doing for the photography and football. I am learning sooooo much on a daily basis, my head is spinning. The family is doing GREAT. Tomorrow we are hosting Brian's 40th birthday (longtime friend!) here at the house - hawiian theme. Don't know when I'll find the time to actually clean the house - but oh, well... sometimes you just have to say WTF, right?!? :) I am eating mindfully today - cuz that BIG wedding for my DS Isaac is fastly approaching... Hang on... it's wicked hot - need to jump in the pool for a minute... BRB... Awwww, much better!

So, tonight at 4 I'll be heading over to RioLinda to shoot the JV scrimmage game (last preseason game)... then coming home for a couple of hours to cool off - man that turf is HOT! Then going back to shoot the Varsity at 7:30... then coming home and editing all of the photos to post on snapfish and link to the WHS football website. I also have a bunch of coach bios to post to that page - whew... I am deep into time debt with this football stuff, but also realize that my post on the BTP will end December 1st. Oh, and I almost forgot, I have to get the "apparel store" set up on the site, too... now that will be a new venture, having never set one up before - I love this learning curve!

I hope Collin gets to play tonight - he's probably not going to play much this season, due to the fact that he's been injured since the end of the seaon 2006... but oh, well... he's in GREAT shape for wrestling season :) and he's with his buddies!
